Pleasure and pain

A person coming to visit Canberra would usually want to firstly experience Parliament house and The War Memorial, then maybe venture up the 2 biggest hills in town, Black Mountain (With the iconic Telstra Tower on it) and Mt Ainslie for a great view.

Mt Ainslie has probably the best lookout point in Canberra with views down to the War Memorial and the awesome Remembrance Drive, lining up perfectly with the old and new Parliament Houses. This usually represents a serene and calm feeling being high above the city on a nice day after a gentle drive. Today though it was a cause of pain for me, as I rode there from home. A nasty little climb that pushed me to my current road bike limit!

While its not a particularly nice feeling at the time, pushing myself to the limit and finding out what I'm really capable of on the bike is something I'am increasingly interested in. The accomplishment you feel after going through a struggle and coming out on top, is addictive.

The view, after a few deep breaths was still lovely
