Its funny the different stages you go through in life. One minute you are doing one thing and the next your in a completely different environment.
You have your school life, which for me was an endurance session just trying to get to the end without failing. Once thats over you have to move into the job scene or the more study/school scene. For me I went straight from school to live in Canberra at the AIS and then onto playing professional Basketball.
Up until just recently life hasnt been all that different. Yeh we have moved alot, gotten married and had 4 beautiful boys, but my main focus outside of that was on basketball. Since moving back to Canberra and trying to set ourselves up for the future, basketball has really taken a back seat in my mind. Its at the point now where Im not playing and to be honest I dont really miss it. I think it was just the right time really.
What stage are we at now?, Im not really sure, it feels like a transitional period where we are looking to whats next rather than the now, although the now is pretty good. It can be frustrating but at the same time exciting.
Jems is doing so well with her work after just recently being promoted and looking to climb the 'corporate' ladder even further. The big boys are dream students at school, and the little ones are wonderful 2 and 3 year olds at home. Im fairly consumed with being a good dad, but I do get out a lot to do some riding and refresh my body and mind, bliss.
The one thing we can always count on is a solid home life. Our home isnt a house or a piece of dirt, its when we are all together, thats when it feels right.
